Synchroteam is a cloud-based field service management solution designed for businesses that dispatch mobile workers, including technicians, inspectors, and service professionals. The key difference is that Premium includes route optimisation.

The first administrator account is free, provided you have at least one paid mobile worker licence. There's a 14-day free trial with no credit card required, and mid-cycle user additions are prorated. No setup or hosting fees, and API access is included at no extra cost on all plans. For a field service tool, this is competitively priced, sitting well below the likes of ServiceTitan while offering solid core functionality.

Vendor lock-in risk is moderate. The REST API provides full read access to your data, so you can always extract what you need programmatically. CSV import support means you can get structured data in, and the same format works for moving data out of many entities. However, there's no one-click full data export, so migration would require either technical skills or an integrator's time. Job history, attachments, and custom field data may require more effort to extract cleanly. The lack of long-term contracts is a positive, meaning you're not financially locked in even if data migration takes some planning.

Synchroteam was founded in 2000 by Francois Pichon and Olivier Hatuel, making it one of the longer-running players in the field service management space. The company is headquartered in Coral Gables, Florida, with development roots in Paris, France. It bootstrapped its way to 30,000 customers across 92 countries and 22 languages before being acquired by the Nomadia Group in September 2023.

Synchroteam's REST API is now on version 3 and covers a wide range of entities: jobs, customers, sites, equipment, users, teams, invoices, quotations, inventory, parts, contracts, and more. Authentication uses Basic Auth with an API key, and all requests go over HTTPS with TLS 1.2+. The API supports both JSON and XML responses.

Rate limits are generous at 1,000 requests per minute with a daily quota, and rate limit headers are included in every response so your integration can manage itself. If you need higher limits, their support team can accommodate. Documentation is well-organised with code examples in seven languages (cURL, Python, PHP, Node, Ruby, Java, C#) and clear endpoint references. There's no dedicated sandbox environment, so testing happens against your live account, which is a minor inconvenience but manageable with a trial account.

Native webhook support for job status changes (scheduled, started, completed, etc.). Configured through Settings > Notifications. You can filter webhooks by job type or customer and send multiple webhook calls per trigger. Also integrates with Zapier for additional automation workflows.

Synchroteam provides decent data portability. You can import customers, sites, equipment, parts, services, and users via CSV files, and bulk import jobs and activities. The REST API gives you full read access to all major entities, so extracting your data programmatically is straightforward.

Export options appear to be primarily API-driven rather than offering a one-click full data export. This means getting your data out is entirely feasible but requires some technical effort or an integrator's help. For an SMB, this is adequate. You won't be locked in with no way out, but don't expect a simple "Download Everything" button either.

The developer experience is above average for a field service management tool. The API documentation at api.synchroteam.com is well-structured, with clear entity references, consistent patterns across endpoints, and code examples in seven programming languages. The v3 API is mature and covers virtually every feature in the platform.

The main gap is the lack of a sandbox or testing environment. You'll need to use a trial account or a dedicated test instance for development, which adds friction. There's also no official developer community or forum, so if you hit a wall you're relying on general support channels. That said, Synchroteam offers engineering assistance for integration projects, which is a nice touch for businesses that need help connecting their systems.
